Surgery and Recovery Process
Otoplasty is usually performed under local anesthesia for adults and general anesthesia for children. After the surgery, a bandage is wrapped around the head to protect the ears and support healing.
Mild pain and swelling are normal for a few days after the surgery. The bandages are typically removed after 1 week. During this time, it is recommended to wear a special headband at night for a few weeks to help the ears maintain their new position. Patients can usually return to their daily lives within a few days.
